Career Opportunities/Events

Careers and employability events are also organised by the Secretary and Careers Officer that members can utilise during their studies. This could range from public speaking masterclasses to CV workshops to day in the life of barristers or solicitors, where guest speakers share their knowledge and experience with you.

Members of the UPLS can also attend the Annual Pilgram Fathers lecture, established by the Plymouth Law Society and hosted by the University of Plymouth. This event has attracted current and past Lord Chancellors, Lord Justices of Appeal and Lords of Appeal. In 2018,   The Lord Burnett of Maldon (Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales) in 2019 gave a talk, and in 2022 The Rt Hon Baroness Hale of Richmond, DBE ( previous President of The Supreme Court) delivered a speech on the pros and cons of a written constitution. As a celebrated event in the legal profession calendar, it is not one to miss...you may even get the chance to meet the speaker!
